Grants and support are available for UK-based teams developing innovative applications of 5G technology in the screen and performance industries.
The CoSTAR Screen Lab, part of a £75.6 million investment by the UKRI Infrastructure Fund, is seeking projects exploring how 5G can advance film, TV, gaming and related sectors. The funding aims to support work in areas such as content production, multi-site collaboration, data distribution, sustainability and generative AI.
Each selected project will receive access to research expertise, facilities and equipment, as well as cash funding of up to £35,000. Additional support includes up to two intensive one-week development sprints at CoSTAR Screen Lab, 10 days of ad-hoc research support and a travel stipend of up to £4,000 for those requiring a residency of at least two days.
Applications are open to teams across the UK, consisting of companies, technologists, researchers and creative practitioners. The lead applicant must be a UK-based enterprise or legal entity with a clear focus on technological advancement in the creative industries. Projects must take place in the UK and be completed between 1 September 2025 and 30 November 2025.
