Doncaster named in FDi European Cities and Regions of the Future

fDi’s flagship ranking benchmarks the most promising investment destinations across Europe. Doncaster has secured a placing with a number 7 position in the Small European Cities Of The Future  2025 – Fdi Strategy category. Please see page 24 of the report below.

Alex Dochery, Interim Head of Investment, Employment and Enterprise at Business Doncaster said: "Doncaster has once again been placed in fDi Intelligence's European Cities and Regions of the Future ranking.

"Our submission focused on Business Doncaster's investment promotion strategy, the work we do to encourage and support business growth and investment, and our focus around sector growth.

"Judges were also interested in how we prioritise sustainability when it comes to inward investment, how we're nurturing and growing Doncaster's local tech ecosystem - and our competitive advantages in this space, and how the business support ecosystem is helping companies to translate innovation into commercialisation. There was also a focus on how we (and partners) are supporting start-ups and scale-ups to access funding and finance, as well as how we're attracting and retaining talent as a city.

"It's great to see the recognition of the work that 'Team Doncaster' and its partners does in ensuring that Doncaster is a great place to invest, and do business."

European locations have had to adjust their investment promotion strategies with shifting geopolitical, technological and corporate dynamics. The 2025 iteration of fDi Intelligence’s flagship European Cities and Regions of the Future ranking maps out these developments. The flagship research assesses the attractiveness of cities and regions for foreign direct investment (FDI), with a data-driven ranking of locations against peers with similar population sizes. A judging panel also assessed the FDI strategies of 89 locations that filled out our survey.
