Pioneer Pipework Services and its recently formed sister company, Pioneer Plant Hire, are experiencing significant growth due to an increase in demand following the approval of grant support, allowing them to enhance productivity, expand operations and create local employment opportunities.
Pioneer Plant Hire was formed around 6 months ago, following the success of Pioneer Pipework Services under the leadership of Directors, David Padley and Paul Clayton.
Pioneer Plant Hire, a provider of plant and equipment hire, successfully secured funding through the Rural England Prosperity Fund and the UKSPF Productivity grant, administered by Business Doncaster. These grants have played a crucial role in improving operational efficiency and accelerating business expansion.
The directors saw the opportunity to launch the new business through the success of the pipework business, which includes blue chip clients such as Network Rail, BAE Systems, Coca-Cola, Haribo, and Rolls-Royce, to name a few.
One of the major benefits of the UKSPF Productivity Grant was the establishment of an advanced asset register. Previously, the business faced challenges in tracking equipment, leading to losses through theft and misplacement. This also impacted profitability, as lost equipment could not be hired out, and unnecessary replacements were frequently purchased.
The implementation of a new Content Management System (CMS) has transformed the company’s ability to monitor and manage its assets, significantly improving efficiency and profitability. Additionally, the UKSPF Productivity Grant enabled Pioneer Plant Hire to develop and launch a dedicated website to promote its services. The online platform has increased visibility, attracting new clients and boosting business performance. As a result, the company is now looking to expand its team to meet growing demand.
The Rural England Prosperity Fund has also provided a significant boost by allowing the business to acquire new machinery at an accelerated rate. This strategic investment has not only enhanced service capacity but has also enabled Pioneer Plant Hire to broaden its customer base and increase revenue streams.
David Padley, Owner and Director for Pioneer Pipework Services and Pioneer Plant Hire, said: “The support from Business Doncaster has been invaluable. The funding has allowed us to modernise our operations, improve efficiency, and grow at a much faster pace than we anticipated. With the addition of new machinery and a stronger digital presence, we are excited about the future and the opportunities ahead.”
Councillor Glyn Jones, Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Housing and Business, said: "It was great to meet the team and hear about the success they have achieved and growth plans for the future - we wish them all the best."
The Business Productivity & Digitisation grant is delivered across South Yorkshire and is supported and part-funded by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and has attracted £5.2m of investment through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK, investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
