Rapid growth for new Doncaster Aggregates business

Will Beck originally started his Doncaster based business Beck Aggregates as a sole trader in March 2020 which was then incorporated into a limited company in January 2023.

Beck Aggregates Limited is a trusted supplier of premium construction and landscaping materials, committed to providing reliable aggregate solutions for projects of all sizes, ensuring customers receive the best materials on time and within budget.

From being a teenager, Will has always been in the construction industry, particularly ground works and demolition. He often carried out work for local developers, with his own smaller projects on weekends and evenings. This made him realise how important quality aggregates and service is for any construction project and spurred him on to opening his own aggregate yard.

The yard was opened in March 2020, a fortnight before the pandemic and lockdown hit. Having just invested all his savings into a new start up business as a sole trader, it was an extremely concerning time for him. The business was quiet initially but fortunately, many people decided to revamp their gardens at that time, creating the perfect opportunity to connect with the local community and promote his decorative aggregates.

Once the business had gained an established customer base, Will purchased a 3.5 tonne tipper van. 3 years later, due to customer demand, he has invested in an 8-wheeler lorry, capable of carrying 20 tonne loads for aggregate deliveries. The new lorry has been a great success and Beck Aggregates are keen to further expand their fleet of vehicles, to include a grab lorry for removal of soil and rubble.

The business consists of three full time and two part time employees and has purchased new premises on Carr Hill just half a mile from their current site. Will is optimistic that the business will be operating from their new site by this time next year.

Speaking about the support he has received to date, Will notes that Business Doncaster has been hugely supportive and has opened many doors and made some very helpful and mutually beneficial introductions to other local businesses and organisations across the city and the wider region. Will is also looking forward to attending the next Construction Forum organised by Business Doncaster, an ideal forum to make new contacts and gain important business leads.
