Sheffield Digital is the organisation for businesses and individuals involved in South Yorkshire’s digital industries.

The aim is to help develop the best possible environment for setting up, working in, and growing digital businesses within the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, and particularly excited about the growing tech scene in Doncaster.
Who are our members and what do we do?
We are an inclusive membership organisation, open to any individual or any business who identifies themselves as being involved in digital. This includes students, freelancers, contractors, start-ups, growing businesses, digital teams and departments and the local offices of national organisations. Our community is vibrant, interesting, and passionate about the digital industries.
As a not-for-profit, the income we receive from our membership fees is injected back into running the organisation and supporting the work we do to provide value to our community. We do this under three core areas of activity:
Connect: bring together the people and businesses that make up the South Yorkshire digital industries, to foster collaboration, learning and to have fun.
Represent: provide a single, powerful voice for the digital community to influence policy makers and educators.
Promote: shout about our digital businesses and their capabilities locally, nationally, and internationally.
Why does it matter?
Sheffield Digital was founded on the belief that we are stronger together. Back in 2015 when the idea was conceived, the digital industries in the region were flourishing but fragmented. There was no cohesion in efforts to build the city’s reputation as a tech hub, to attract investment or to pool resources for the benefit of all.
Since formation, Sheffield Digital has gone on to build a collaborative, welcoming and generous community, helping to accelerate business growth, attract talent to the region and boost the economy.
In tangible terms, some of the milestone achievements include co-founding and hosting the Sheffield Digital Festival for multiple years, launching a popular mentoring scheme for those entering the digital industries, becoming a key member of the UK Tech Cluster Group and through this, influencing national discussions relating to digital skills and connectivity.
There is an active community of over 1500 members, we host and support regular meetups, share and celebrate the news of members across various digital platforms, and work closely with Regional Partners and Associate Sponsors to build and nurture a robust tech ecosystem where people and businesses can thrive.
South Yorkshire’s tech scene is fast-paced, friendly and collaborative and we’d love to hear from ambitious Doncaster businesses keen to get involved and join our community and ecosystem.
