The Scott Practice launch their brand-new extension

The new building boasts enhanced patient access and they have modernised the back office and welfare space for staff. With six additional consulting rooms and a multi-purpose education and training space.

On Wednesday, 18th September, the Scott Practice hosted an event to celebrate the launch of their brand-new extension building. It’s exciting to see the improvements made to support both patient care and staff welfare. The new building boasts enhanced patient access and they have modernised the back office and welfare space for staff. With six additional consulting rooms and a multi-purpose education and training space, the practice is now even better equipped to support medical training and healthcare services for the local community.

Here’s what Rose Fells, Managing Partner The Scott Practice, said about the refurbishment and extension of the new building: “The refurbishment of the building and extension has created a modernised surgery that will serve the needs of patients for many years to come, making access easier and increasing the services we provide for patients, whilst also improving our own carbon footprint.

The refurbishment includes the installation of vinyl flooring throughout the building to comply with infection control, fully automatic entrance doors for better patient access, improved lighting, heating and ventilation systems and the installation of solar panels. We have created an additional 6 consulting rooms and a large multi-purpose education and training room to allow the continued support for the training of medical students, student nurses, GP trainees and other allied health professionals, and thereby supporting the local NHS workforce needs. We have modernised and restructured the back office and welfare space for staff.

The additional admin spaces will allow better integrated working, building on the national and regional work in advanced clinical triage, care navigation, proactive care and social prescribing. Creating two minor surgery suites with a recovery room will allow the practice to extend the scope of procedures we are able to perform. We are looking forward to continuing to provide outstanding healthcare to our local patient population using our new modernised facilities. “

The event was attended by staff at The Scott Practice but also local Doncaster Partner Organisations to look around the refurbished building and the extension itself.

One of the GP Partners Dr A Bray said:  “The idea of the atrium in the original building quite literally put patients at the centre with the doctors and nurses in rooms around the outside. The light well in the extension bathes that central space in light and warmth. The building represents us, how we think, and makes it possible for us to do our wok, providing care, learning and teaching every day.”
