For many of us, our car is one of our most prized possessions, and just like any finely tuned machine, our cars need to be cared for.
However, over recent years with the development of new emission controls on car systems and increased service intervals, modern engines experience challenging problems with contamination not seen in previous engine generations.
Solving these problems, such as DPF blockages, EGR issues, low power and high emissions in a simple but effective manner can be tricky, something Doncaster’s Richard Mason knows full well. Having worked in the industry for many years, Richard also knew that there was a dearth of quality trade-only products available, so sought to change this.
Richard set up Sol-X, a brand of workshop and body repair shop chemicals, treatments and aerosols to fill the gap in the market and sought business support and guidance from Business Doncaster, a partner of the Sheffield City Region Growth Hub Enhancement Project.
The Enhancement Project offers a range of support aimed at high growth companies, financed by the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
Sol-X’s products are engineered to overcome the challenges typically experienced with modern vehicles, based on innovative solutions and manufactured in the UK.
Richard’s vision is clearly paying dividends: “Sol-X is now a leading producer recognised for our quality and service”, he explains.
“We are a growing business and recently exhibited at Automechanika, the world’s largest automotive aftermarket trade show in Frankfurt to help showcase our products for export sales.”
The support from Business Doncaster has clearly been invaluable to the business.
“We have found Business Doncaster to be a professional service run by quality, experienced people perfectly placed with the business knowledge and excellent knowledge of local contacts.
“We have received coaching on system processes, HR procedures, health and safety advice and plenty of guidance on everything from PR to apprenticeships and internships” Richard explains.
“We’re so pleased to have been introduced to Business Doncaster. The support has been amazing and continues to be a great benefit to our business.”
The Sheffield City Region Growth Hub Enhancement Project is receiving up to £2.7m of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (and in London the intermediate body Greater London Authority) is the Managing Authority for the European Regional Development Fund. Established by the European Union, the European Regional Development Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support innovation, businesses, create jobs and local community regenerations.
